Strategic development in vocational education: new workshop to be built in Vác
The results of the tender for the construction of the central training workshop of the Váci Vocational Training Centre have been published in the EU Public Procurement Bulletin. The winning bidder is BAUSZER Kft., , which will build the modern educational facility as part of a net investment worth HUF 2.519 billion. The contract was signed by the parties on 30 June 2025, with 16 months available for completion. The facility will be built based on the plans of Kulcsár Építészstúdió.
The site of the project is a state-owned property of nearly 38,000 square meters located at 8 Naszály Street, Vác, where the VSZC Király Endre Technical and Vocational School is currently operating.
The development will take place in the immediate vicinity of the existing school and sports facilities, on a formerly sporting but currently underused site. The new workshop building will be accompanied by a landscaped external pavement, a green roof and a solar panel system to ensure sustainable operation.
Functional and attractive educational building
The planned workshop will be a ground floor plus two storeys building, which will be functionally and architecturally modern. The building, with a net floor area of 3921 square metres, will consist of three main massing elements: two wings closing at an angle and a wedge-shaped building section between them.
The ground floor will house the larger mechanical and technical workshops - such as CNC, diagnostics, alternative propulsion vehicles and materials testing - as well as a shared kitchen and dining area. The first floor will be used mainly for theoretical teaching spaces, such as language rooms, teachers' rooms and laboratories. The second floor will house administrative and management functions and will also provide access to the mechanical level of the building.
Special attention was paid to the exterior of the building: 464 square metres of aluminium curtain walling and 640 square metres of fixed and motorised adjustable louvred shading on the facade, giving the workshop a modern, technological look. The building will be surrounded by 2257 square metres of paving.
Modern structure, energy efficient solutions
In the structural construction, BAUSZER uses precast and monolithic reinforced concrete elements: a point-foundation system of pillars, bark panel bracing walls and prestressed slab piles form the structural backbone of the building. The staircases are also made of precast reinforced concrete, with a double-arm and tensioned-arm design.
The roof will house the indoor/outdoor mechanical units and the inverter solar panel system, which will provide part of the electrical energy consumption. An extensive green roof will be built over the dining area, improving the ecological and thermal performance of the building.
The building's thermal characteristics meet modern energy saving requirements: heat-bridge-free structures, modern windows and heat-pumped heating and cooling ensure energy-efficient operation. Waste heat recovery from mechanical ventilation provides additional savings.
Connection to existing infrastructure
The workshop will be connected to the existing DKA (Digital Community Creation Area) and storage buildings by a walkway, so the new building will fit seamlessly into the existing school infrastructure. The development will not only raise the standard of vocational education and training, but will also bring the school as a whole to a new level of functionality.
State-of-the-art structural and engineering solutions are used in the construction, contributing to the modernisation of Hungarian vocational education and training of future professionals.
According to information on the institution's website, the Vocational Training Centre of Vaci, established on 1 July 2015, comprises eight educational institutions and one college. The main objective of the creation of the Centre is to facilitate the operation of schools and to help people living in the region or wishing to study in the region to find a secure, marketable profession.
The Vocational Training Centre offers a unique range of training, with a successful vocational training track record spanning several decades. In addition to well-equipped workshops, it has a Digital Community Creation Space, where regular career guidance training and mentoring sessions are held and where students can try out the latest technologies: 3D printing, Lego robot programming, laser cutting machines, CNC milling machines and programmable sewing machines. In addition, the latest design software (e.g. Fusion 360, Archicad) and the full Adobe product range (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.) are available on the computers on site.
