Tatabánya gets a new market hall to replace its outdated market, and a turbo roundabout is built

Almost four billion forints can be used to start development projects in Tatabánya from the funds of the Operational Programme for Regional and Urban Development (TOP) Plus, the President of the Komárom-Esztergom County Assembly, which coordinates the tender, told MTI.

The municipality of the county seat can invest 1.65 billion forints in the construction of a new market, with a co-financing of more than half a billion forints. The city's "outdated and unimprovable" market will be replaced by a modern indoor market hall near the bus and train stations and the Vértes Center, he added.

Another significant development is the rebuilding of the Búzavirág Street-Rákóczi Ferenc Street junction, the busiest road junction in the Tatabánya Industrial Park, which employs around 10,000 people, into a so-called turbo roundabout, which will be implemented with a HUF 1.3 billion grant.

In addition to this, the city will be able to use HUF 400 million for the complete reconstruction of the gymnasium wing of the Bárdos László High School.

The city received HUF 5.6 billion for 14 projects

Tatabánya has won 390 million HUF for programmes to strengthen social cooperation, 110 million HUF to support disadvantaged groups, 80 million HUF for the Healthier Tatabánya programme series and 50 million HUF for the development of Natura 2000 areas, the county assembly president said.

György Popovics said that Tatabánya's TOP PLUS budget is HUF 12.3 billion, and the city has so far received HUF 5.6 billion for 14 projects from the programme coordinated by the county government, including the grants just awarded.
