Vecsés builds a leisure park with a pond and a stream bed from a pump station
The municipality of Vecses has won HUF 1.355 billion in non-reimbursable EU funding to create a sports and recreation park on an area of nearly 1.5 hectares.
- on the one hand, the city's cycle pump track, commonly known as "Göci", will be further developed into a versatile recreational park;
- on the other hand, cycling improvements are being made.
Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium is participating in the project as a consortium partner.
Plans include an open-air stage, a jogging track and several recreational areas
According to the article vecsesitajekoztato.hu article, the cycling pump track built in the „Göci” area was handed over last year, and the city successfully applied for further development in order to create a sports and leisure park. According to the latest news from MTI, the new park
- with streetball and beach volleyball courts,
- with a separate playground for children and adults,
- with an outdoor stage,
- with ornamental fountains, artificial stream bed and splash pools,
- with covered toilets and covered community spaces.
The leisure park will also feature a 400-metre running circuit with a moulded rubber surface.
Along the 2 metre wide footpath that runs through the park, there will be several rest areas with benches, picnic tables, smart tables, hammocks, sun loungers and chess tables. There will also be teakball and ping-pong tables, drinking fountains, bicycle storage, waste bins, rain shelters and solar-powered fireplaces.
A car park with 21 parking spaces will be built next to the leisure park.
Expected to be delivered in 2028
Another element of the project is the creation of a cycle path linking Vecsés to Budapest and Gyál. The development will create a pedestrian and cycle path on Széchenyi and Halomi roads towards Budapest. Cycling will be facilitated by the creation of an open cycle lane on Antal Buda street. The Széchenyi Street - Gyál route will create an uninterrupted, continuous cycling network up to the border of Gyál.
Following design and permitting procedures, the improvements are expected to be completed in 2028. Information on the progress of the project will be available on the www.vecsesitajekoztato.hu website.
