A more dignified environment for patients in several departments of the Vác clinic

The first phase of the renovation of the clinic has been completed, according to the official website of the Ödön Jávorszky Hospital in Vác. The renovated corridors and modernised waiting rooms and clinics will help patients receive care in a more civilised and comfortable environment, they add.

The pediatric, ophthalmology, gynaecology and occupational health departments of the specialist clinic have been given a modern makeover with two hundred and fifty million forints. The works included replacing floor coverings, windows, sanitary ware, built-in furniture and shades, painting and easy-to-disinfect wall coverings, replacing the electrical network, installing new lights and renovating the interior doors.

Bence Rétvári, Parliamentary Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, said that the municipalities in the area offered their support for the renovation from the Competitive Districts Programme. The idea of the programme is that the municipalities should think together about what kind of development could serve the common interest of several municipalities and improve the quality of life of the population, the State Secretary said, noting that the renovation of the specialised clinic is just such an investment.

One of the most important developments in the life of Vác and its region in the last half-decade or so has been the renovation of the outpatient clinic in Vác.

All four levels will be renewed, while patient care will remain uninterrupted

According to information available on the website of the National Hospital Directorate ( rel="noopener"> National Hospital Directorate website, the four-storey building, which was handed over more than four decades ago in 1980, has a usable floor space of almost 4,400 square metres and has been the central location for outpatient specialist care in the city for decades. The modernisation project, which began in May and is being funded by 1.6 billion forints in state subsidies, will affect 1,282 square metres of the clinic.

The expected duration of the works is 12 months, during which time patient care will be guaranteed.

Accordingly, the construction will be carried out in half-stages, in a phased sequence: the ground, first and second floors will be carried out in six stages.

• The aim of the development is to create a more modern, comfortable and patient-friendly environment.
• A new entrance area will be built, with an automatic door and air curtain replacing the current iron door, which is difficult to close.
• The porch and the directly adjacent carton room will have a modern new layout and look.
• New flooring will be installed in the corridors on all four floors of the building, the walls will be completely painted and the six toilets will be completely renovated.
• In the corridors and stairwells, the outdated windows will be replaced with plastic windows, and the doors will be painted in a uniform colour.
• The glass walls will also be replaced with modern plastic versions.
• Some elements of the heating system, such as the radiators in the corridors, will also be replaced or renovated.
• The lighting will be upgraded, with energy-saving LED lamps installed in new suspended ceilings.
• A complete renovation of the outdated electrical network is also part of the project, as well as the installation of a new fire alarm system.
• Shading will be provided by strip curtains in the internal waiting areas and new, clearly visible, easy-to-read information boards will be installed to help patients find their way around the building.

The renovation will not only take place inside the building: the 50-metre stretch of pavement in front of the clinic, from the bus stop to the entrance of the building, will also be renewed, ensuring a more accessible and cultured approach.
