Road building
A street in the centre of Pest has been renewed with asphalt and green islands instead of cobblestones by HE-DO
HE-DO has completed the construction works on the construction phase I of Csengery Street, magyarepitok.hu reported. The works started at the end of September in the VI district of the capital, in Csengery Street, between Szondi Street and Aradi Street. The project also renewed the road and pavement of the downtown street, while creating significant green areas.
The asphalt pavements have been replaced by paving stones
The project involved the demolition and reconstruction of the old 10-metre wide cobbled pavement and the asphalt pavement on both sides. The carriageway was narrowed by 3.5 metres and replaced by a 45-degree parking lane on one side and a parallel parking lane with green islands on the other.
The new road was paved in asphalt, replacing the cobbles, but most of the cobbles were reused in the parking lanes. The old asphalt pavements, with their trails, have been replaced by paving stones.
Mains irrigation system takes care of the plants
Another important element of the development was the planting of 20 columnar plane trees and nearly 1,700 bushes and shrubs in the newly created green islands in the renewed street, replacing the cobbled pavement. The plants are kept in the inner-city environment by a piped irrigation system and a special planting medium. The plants in the islands are protected from traffic and dogs by a decorative fence.
In addition, new benches, litter bins, dog waste bins, drinking fountains with dog bowls and flower boxes will add to the comfort level of the street. Pedestrians will be protected from vehicles by bollards around junctions.
