The bypass may become complete - 16 km of new road to be built near Nyíregyháza

Preparations for the northern bypass road in Nyíregyháza can begin according to the call for tenders published by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium. The winner of the design tender published on TED will be required to prepare the plans, including the implementation plan.

The project involves the design of a two-lane road on a new route between the end point of the Nyírszőlős end of the Nyírszőlős bypass 338 (the junction of the 338 and the 3822 road to Buj) and the main road 4, according to the tender.

As a precursor to this development, in 2019 the last two sections of the western bypass in Nyíregyháza were handed over:

• the construction of the 3.7 km section between the main road 36 to Tiszavasvári and the main road 38 to Tokaj was carried out by Zemplénkő Kft.,
• and the 4.1 km section between the main road 38 and Nyírszőlős (road 3822) was carried out by Ke-Víz 21 Zrt..

A bridge is also being built over the Záhony railway line

As a first step, the study design, the environmental impact assessment, the Road Safety Impact Assessment and the environmental permit for the northern bypass have already been completed, according to the public procurement notice.

The call for proposals now published concerns the further phases of the plan:

• the preparation of a feasibility study,
• preparation of the permit and design documentation in BIM,
• obtaining all necessary permits and consents.

The section to be upgraded will require the design of 8 roundabouts and 3 structures. In addition, the at-grade crossing of the Nyírvidéki Kisvasút line 118 and the design of a bridge over the Budapest-Záhony railway line will be provided. According to the specification, the project will also include the construction of a two-lane access road to the Kemecse Industrial Park, about 2 km long.
