Cycling infrastructure could be improved along two major roads in Baja

In total, around 1.7 kilometres of new paths or upgrades to existing cycle paths may be built. A conditional public procurement procedure is being used to seek bidders.

Two important cycle paths may be renovated in Baja: the local government of the town in Bács-Kiskun County has issued a conditional public procurement tender for the development of the town's cycling infrastructure, which is to be financed under the EU's TOP Plusz programme.

Firstly, they are looking for applicants for the modernisation of the Dózsa György Road cycle path, also known as the 51 main road , with a design speed of 20 km/h, for a total length of about 1.14 km. Of this, 621 metres are two-way cycle paths with 2×1 lanes, with a common width varying between 1.5 and 2.55 metres. For 523 metres, the reconstruction will involve a section of undivided road, which will be both a footpath and a cycle path, with a width of between 3 and 3.9 metres. In addition, the contractors will have to carry out additional tasks such as sewer management and park construction.

The construction of a new cycle path is also planned in the city, also under the TOP Plusz programme, on Freedom Road (which connects to Route 51), where a 453-metre-long cycle path is being sought for construction (the planned width of the path will vary between 2.3 and 2.55 metres), also in two directions, with a total of 2×1 lanes.

The deadline for both projects is 10 September.
