Key players in the water sector invited to a unique event for joint reflection

Professionals from all over the country came to Mezőkövesd for the Designers' Meeting organised by Pureco Kft.. The annual meeting is organised by the Hungarian water company for one of its most important target groups: utility planners, civil engineers and engineers.

Never before seen in Hungary

According to the company's report, the conference, now in its fourth year, is a unique event of its kind. In the water industry, there has been no previous example of a national event in the country that addressed utility planners and engineers.

"The participants were not only informed about the novelties, product and technological developments of the Pureco, but we also invited them to reflect together on design work, opportunities, increasing sustainability expectations and market challenges in an interactive professional discussion"

The rise of ESG reporting was also discussed

At this year's conference, organised at the Balneo Hotel in Mezőkövesd, a slight change from the previous structure, part of the early afternoon was dedicated to a panel discussion along the Design Round Table. The Round Table discussion was attended by representatives from the engineering profession, contractors, construction and the Chamber of Commerce. Participants exchanged views with each other and with invited guests on current issues, challenges, future trends and impacts affecting the design-build profession.

The event also paid special attention to sustainability efforts. Attendees were also informed about the expected uptake of ESG reporting in the corporate sector, the importance of conscious corporate governance, and the design capacities that underpin ESG reporting. "But they also heard expert presentations on concrete pavers, the water quality of Lake Balaton, regenerative adsorbent-based drinking water treatment, as well as on our new proprietary product, other new additions to our product range and our ongoing projects in the international market," the report added.

Valuable new solutions for the profession rewarded

This year's event saw the presentation of the first prize and special prize of last year's Pureco Design Competition. The competition was launched for the development of new products and solutions for stormwater treatment, drinking water or wastewater treatment not yet available on the market. The first prize was awarded to Balázs Szívós for his spring-loaded manhole, while Tamás Asztalos won the special prize for his siltation sizing application.

According to the summary, the professional day was a great success and the positive feedback from the participants shows that there is a need for a continuation.
