Upgrading of the wastewater treatment plant in Dévavanya completed

The HUF 1.765 billion modernisation of the wastewater treatment plant in Dévaványa, Békés county, has been completed, the municipality said in a statement on 27 October.

The aim of the development was to build a modern sewage treatment plant, install a new technological system and reconstruct the most outdated parts of the existing sewage network, they wrote. According to our newspaper's information, the public procurement tender for the execution of the works was won by Magyar Vakond Kft., and accordingly began the work. The construction was completed by Békési Vakond Kft., which also belongs to Duna Csoport rel="noopener">Békési Vakond Kft. , which performed the tasks as the legal successor to the original contractor.

The company worked on a similar project in Mezőberény, also in Békés County, which was recently completed.

These works were carried out

The investment consisted of two parts: the repair of the sewer network and the modernisation of the treatment plant. The network reconstruction included, among other things, the partial renovation of two interceptors and the modernisation of 900 metres of gravity sewer. A treatment plant with a capacity of 1,100 cubic metres was also built.

In the municipality of 7,000 inhabitants, the network was outdated, which meant that the pipes were filled with rainwater in addition to the wastewater, which was a burden on the treatment plant. The sudden and heavy rainfall has put the system under severe strain. A storm water reservoir was also built during the development.

The bulk of the funding was obtained from the EU's Operational Programme for Environment and Energy Efficiency (KEHOP), with an aid intensity of almost 90 percent; the remainder was financed by the central budget. The plant is operated by Alföldvíz Zrt..
