A solution may be found for treating wastewater generated in industrial parks in Debrecen

The results of the public procurement procedure for the design and construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Debrecen have been announced. According to official information published on TED, Mészáros és Mészáros Ipari, Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Zrt. has won the contract for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant, worth more than HUF 23 billion.

• as well as the existing municipal wastewater treatment plant capacity restoration.

To remedy the municipal sewage load on the sewage treatment plant, as the number of people living in Debrecen and its agglomeration has increased dramatically. This made it necessary to restore the plant's capacity.

The project also aims to ensure the professional and modern treatment of separately collected industrial wastewater generated in industrial parks by implementing cost-effective, automated new wastewater treatment and sludge management technology.

The wastewater treatment plant enables the quality of greywater produced from treated wastewater to be used as widely as possible, while keeping treatment costs low.

The final treatment capacity of the wastewater treatment plant reaches 12,000 m³ per day.

The implementation of the new industrial wastewater treatment plant will take place in two stages, in line with the development schedule of the industrial park operators.

• In phase I, the facility will be built to receive and treat 8,000 m³ of industrial wastewater per day.
• During phase II, capacity will be expanded by an additional 4,000 m³ per day, bringing the final treatment capacity of the wastewater treatment plant to 12,000 m³ per day.

The facility for further treatment of purified wastewater must be designed and implemented in two phases.

• In phase I, a further treatment line with a net capacity of 8,000 m³/day will be built. The facility will operate on a single technological line, but all of its equipment will have heat reserves and parallel equipment to ensure continuous operational safety.
• During phase II, a completely new technological line will be established, providing an additional net purification capacity of 4,000 m³/day.

The existing municipal wastewater treatment plant will be restored to capacity during the planning and development phase.
