Vocational training is being developed in more than thirty locations across the country

This year will be the year of development in the "European champion" Hungarian vocational education and training, said the Minister of State for Innovation and Higher Education of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) in Szolnok on Thursday. Balázs Hankó was speaking at the opening event of the EU-funded project of the National Office for Vocational and Adult Education and Training (NVO) entitled "Professional support for the RRF-2.2.2-23 21st century vocational training institution development programme". He also explained:

The improvements to vocational training schools across the country will affect 34 sites of 31 institutions of 18 vocational training centres worth almost HUF 96 billion, in addition to HUF 53 billion in construction investments.

The development of Hungarian vocational education must be continued, Balázs Hankó stressed, adding that one of the pillars of this is digital development. The second pillar is wage development, and the third pillar is a programme to develop 21st century vocational training institutions.

The programme will provide HUF 6 billion to renovate two vocational training institutions in Szolnok.

Dávid Csontos, Vice President for General and Project Management of the National Office for Vocational Education and Training, said at the event:

The developments include new construction at 7 sites, expansion and renovation at 8 sites and renovation at 19 sites. Out of the HUF 95.8 billion, 110,000 square metres of school space will be renovated in the total project, of which 7,300 square metres in Szolnok alone.

Green developments are coming

Regő Lánszki, Secretary of State for Architecture Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) said:

Vocational training institutions are expected to achieve energy savings of over 55 percent based on the applications submitted. The infrastructure and construction investments aim to improve classrooms and transform teaching spaces, in addition to installing systems to ensure the use of renewable energy sources

- noting that the improvements will allow the use of modern teaching tools.

Plan investments in advance

Zoltán Nyul, Deputy State Secretary of ÉKM for Building Construction, stressed that thorough planning, preparation and technical control are important for investments. He said that in the future they would like to see only those investments in Hungary where all the elements of functional, economic, operability, sustainability and aesthetic aspects are "in place".
