The company, known as a major player in the market, reported a 15 percent increase in sales. Brick sales have increased by almost one and a half times and this is not even the strongest upward momentum.

In February, for the first time in 15 months, the volume of construction material sales increased on an annual basis, with almost all product groups showing a positive trend, according to Újház Zrt.

According to its own data, the Hungarian-owned building materials retail network reported that the total volume of building materials sold last month increased by 14.9 percent, while in the last quarter of last year the market shrank by a fifth (21 percent).

In the structural construction segment, turnover increased by 27.7 percent in February, with bricks up 44.9 percent and concrete formwork up 69 percent year-on-year, they said.

Among the main product groups, only drywall (typically plasterboard and accessories) showed a decline.

They also see an increase in areas where the aid scheme is only just starting up

Újház Zrt. has seen an average increase of 20 percent in sales of insulation materials. Assessing the data, the company's president, Attila Juhász, said.

This product group has grown despite many people waiting for the launch of a possible government energy efficiency programme.

We should not overestimate any one month's data, so we cannot yet talk about a clear trend reversal, but there are several factors that show that the recovery is starting," he added.
