Creative ideas from university students will be used to build pretend concrete street furniture on BudaPart

Creative university students are invited to participate in a furniture design competition organised by Market Építő Zrt., according to a press release sent to our newspaper. The award-winning ideas will be used to create sustainable and aesthetically pleasing exposed concrete street furniture, which will debut as part of the BudaPart development project. The best designers will not only receive valuable cash prizes, but will also be able to shape the cityscape with their work, according to the announcement.

One of the capital's most significant residential and office building development projects, the BudaPart project (which we regularly write about in our newspaper write about in our newspaper) will create a unique urban quarter in the coming years that combines natural tranquillity with an urban lifestyle. University students who enter the street furniture design competition and successfully pass the test can contribute to this.

Both beautiful and practical entries are invited

The BudapART competition, launched by a leading domestic construction company, invites applicants to design a four-element family of pseudo-concrete street furniture products, consisting of a bench, a covered waste bin, a large public space bin and a bicycle bin. It is important to create functional and artistically appreciated pieces that are not only practical but also provide a visual experience. In addition, applicants should take into account sustainability and environmentally conscious design principles.

The jury will assess the uniqueness of the ideas, feasibility, manufacturability and how the designed furniture harmonises with the BudaPart's image and how it fits into the built environment. The evaluation will also focus on material efficiency, the environmental factor and the functionality, user-friendliness and human-centredness of the street furniture elements designed.

The Market Építő Zrt. call for applications is open until 19 January 2025 for individual applications from fully qualified students. They can then upload their plans and accompanying documentation on the BudapART website until 30 March.
