Cooperation in vocational training - VAMAV offers a range of opportunities for young people

In recent years, dual training has become one of the main pillars of vocational education and training in Hungary. This form of training has incorporated into the Hungarian education system the practice of EU Member States to involve companies in practical training in line with business needs. This creates the opportunity to bring into the labour market professionals with marketable work experience, trained according to business needs.

The VAMAV Kft. has always considered sustainability to be important and continues to do so, actively participating in the creation of a marketable workforce, which contributes to the continuous high-quality operation that meets customer needs. The company cooperates with vocational schools and technical colleges in its vicinity in the fields of mechanical engineering, machine manufacturing technology and mechatronics as part of a dual training programme.

The management of VAMAV Kft. is committed to providing students with the practical professional skills they need to succeed in the world of work, and to continue their careers in the company after gaining their professional qualifications.

Participants in the programme will learn about many areas of the company

The company will cooperate in technical training with the János Blind Bottyán Catholic Technical and Economic College in Gyöngyös, the János Damjanich Technical College in Hatvan and, from August 2023, the József Attila Technical College in Gyöngyös. This year, 1 mechatronics technician graduated successfully, and from the summer, 12 students will start their apprenticeships in the field of mechanical engineering in the framework of dual training.

For students aged 17-18 who join the dual training, the company organises a vocational programme for 7 or 8 hours a day, depending on their age, which, in addition to the technical areas (mechanics, parts manufacturer), introduces them to the related areas (maintenance, quality assurance, quality control). Pupils will also have the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day work of the supporting areas.

Students can complete their 4-week summer internship or training placement (subject to agreement with the technical schools) in blocks of 3 months or 3 days per week during the semester.

Scholarships for students who perform well

The first few days of the traineeship are spent on general familiarisation: students attend safety training, a general company presentation and a visit to the factory. Their work is supervised by an experienced mentor, who they can turn to if they have any questions.

The company has announced a scholarship programme for summer trainees, in which, in addition to the salary under the vocational training employment contract, students who perform well - can receive a one-off scholarship payment of up to HUF 50,000, taking into account their academic results and traineeship performance -. Upon graduation, the company can offer them a job in machining and machining jobs if a job opening arises.

The company has also joined the Erasmus programme

VAMAV Kft. offers an internship opportunity for students who are pursuing their studies at university and are interested in professional development - after a consecutive 6 week mandatory internship -. For university students, the company also offers thesis topics and writing opportunities. Colleagues who have received job offers following the programme are currently working in the company and will join the engineering or finance team of VAMAV.

In June 2023, under the Erasmus programme, VAMAV Kft (subsidiary MÁV in company 50%, voestalpine Railway Systems in company 50 %) of WWG (Weichenwerk Wörth GmbH), subsidiary voestalpine, offered an apprenticeship to engineering technicians - a trainee and his mentor - at the plant of the Gyöngyös diverter factory. They were able to gain practical experience in welding and slipforming operations.

This cooperation has provided both the company and the Austrian trainee and his mentor with an exchange of experience that has contributed greatly to their development. The students gained a wide range of experience and practical knowledge of other technologies.
