The newly opened Aliga Port will also help Olympic preparations in the future
The newest marina on the Hungarian Sea, equipped with modern facilities and services, was officially opened in Balatonvilágos on 2 June 2023. As previously reported, Aliga Port, whose development and expansion was carried out by Bayer Property Zrt. owned by PRO-MOT Hungária Kft., has 213 winterised berths for sailing and electric boats. The investment further strengthens recreational and sporting boating in the Balaton region, which will also have a positive impact on tourism in the future.
S Zsolt Gyulay, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Csaba Haranghy, President of the Hungarian Sailing Federation, Balázs Szzalay, President of the Hungarian Surfing Federation reinforced the mission that the port will continue to be of strategic importance in the Olympic preparations. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor of Balatonvilágos Mihály Witzmann, Károly Takács, Mayor of Balatonvilágos, Attila Balázs, President and CEO of Bayer Construct Zrt., and the Aliga Port construction and operation team.
The guests were welcomed by Josános Karakas, Head of Operations, who thanked the employees of the group who participated in the construction of the port. He stressed that the project was built with the support of Kisfaludy2030 Tourism Development Nonprofit Zrt., using domestic and own resources.
In his speech, Zsolt Gyulay, President of the MOB, emphasized that the Balatonvilágos harbour has been an important base for the Olympic preparation of sailors since the 1980s and 1990s. "We are delighted that thanks to the cooperation between Aliga Port and the sports federations, our athletes can continue this preparation in a higher quality. After all, it is here in the eastern basin of Lake Balaton that the wind conditions can best recreate what the sea conditions are like."
The event was highlighted by the wooden boat built in Rimini in 1962, specially transported and decorated for the opening ceremony. There are very few wooden craft like it in the world.
The winterised e-port offers a number of outstanding services
The complete refurbishment and extension works carried out during the modernisation works meet both water management and navigation standards and requirements. The planting of vegetation on the inner side of the new curved breakwater and ice jetty has been carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Environment and Nature Protection Agency.
The seawall has been reinforced, the two jetties have been rebuilt and a new breakwater jetty has been constructed. The new pier was designed with the aim of providing a calm, inland water area for the boats on it. The south pier will be open to all as a promenade.
