RTL Klub moved into its new headquarters near the City Park
It moved into its new downtown home, the WING and owned by Liget Centerbe one of Hungary's largest commercial TV channels, RTL Magyarország, on 9 September, according to a press release sent to our newspaper.
The reconstruction of the building complex was a major real estate development challenge, as a listed building of great artistic and historical value was recreated as an office complex that retained the modernist architectural features of the original building. At the same time, the building was equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the specific functional needs of RTL's broadcasting activities were met.
In the Liget Center project, located in the immediate vicinity of the City Park, two listed buildings, Liget Center Auditorium and Classic, have been reborn as a modern, sustainable office complex while preserving their architectural values.
Liget Center has an important construction history
One of the key elements of the development was the reconstruction of Liget Center Auditorium, whose façade overlooking the City Park is decorated with the relief of the Construction Workers. The building, modernised for RTL's newsroom and studios, was the congress block of the former MÉMOSZ (Magyar Építő - National Association of Industrial Workers) headquarters, which has been protected since 1999, and the renovation focused on preserving the historic character of the building, the special technological needs of RTL Hungary and ESG considerations.
The designer responsible for the refurbishment of Liget Center Auditorium is TIBA Építész Stúdió, while the general contractor is WORKUP, while the interior design was carried out by FITOUT Zrt., a company specialising in this field. The development of the Auditorium is unique in the domestic office market: a building with nearly zero energy consumption and an „A” energy efficiency and „A+” CO₂ emission efficiency rating was created from a facility that was more than 70 years old.

RTL's News Directorate and studios for news and infotainment programmes have moved into the Auditorium, so that widely known programmes such as RTL News, Weather Report and Focus are broadcast from the new base. The Liget Center Classic building in the Dózsa György út part of the complex houses the commercial media company's business premises. The media company has named its downtown base RTL Liget, as indicated by the green RTL logo on the roof of the Dózsa György út building.
"We are delighted that RTL Hungary has chosen Liget Center as its new downtown base. Liget Center fits perfectly with our office development goals of building high quality, well-located, state-of-the-art, high-quality, sustainable headquarters for typically prestigious domestic and multinational tenants that meet their needs and vision," said Noah Steinberg, President and CEO of WING.
A new building will also be added to the complex
The entire project will be completed this autumn, as a brand new office building Liget Center Vitrum will be built next to the buildings that serve as RTL's main base. The Vitrum is a near-zero energy building that offers a range of green and smart solutions, with a total of 2,200 square metres of leasable office space on six floors for tenants looking for a downtown location.
