Infrastructure development completed in the town in the Sió Valley
The town of Simontornya, located on the border of Tolna and Fejér counties, has developed a waste processing system based on green solutions with direct support from the Ministry of the Interior, according to information sent to our newspaper. The ministry provided approximately HUF 259 million in gross support for the project, which involved the construction of a biomass and construction and demolition waste utilisation plant. The public procurement notice data, Topa és Társa Építési Kft. undertook work on the project.
Construction waste is also sorted
At the plant, biodegradable green waste is used to produce compost using a so-called "cover" aerated technology, while inert construction waste is physically processed (i.e. crushed and graded) to produce so-called "recycled" material, which can also be used on site for road construction and landscaping.
The programme also included the purchase of a hammer shredder and compost grader, which are essential for processing green waste, as well as a backhoe loader. A treatment plant was set up and an office and weigh-house container was installed, as well as a bridge weighbridge. Last but not least, elements of the composting technology (aeration fans, permeable cover for the grains, leachate collection basin) were installed.
The waste recycling plant was inaugurated at the project's closing ceremony on 25 September 2024. The event was addressed by Pál Réthy, Deputy State Secretary for Public Employment of the Ministry of the Interior, and József Torma, Mayor of Simontornya. The centre was subsequently inaugurated.
