A public building in Komárom-Esztergom county built during the regime change is being renovated

The renovation of the cultural centre in Nagyigmánd has begun. The municipality is contributing 500 million forints of its own funds and 300 million forints of EU support to the project, which involves the complete renovation and reconstruction of the building, the mayor announced on 26 March. According to the information available in the Electronic Public Procurement System, the Tatabánya-based company ZaFiR Kft. will carry out the work for a net value of HUF 639 million.

New auditorium, changing rooms and showers to be built

According to Mayor Erika Hajduné Farkas, the building will be extended with a separate hall connected to the main hall, and dressing rooms and showers will be built next to the stage for the performers.

The ground floor of the institution, which was opened in 1990, will have its slab reinforced and the replaced pillars will be demolished to create a larger, more usable space. The project will include complete thermal and water insulation, replacement of windows and doors, and modernisation of the heating and electrical networks.

After the renovation, the 35-year-old building will be able to host larger municipal events, but it can also provide space for smaller events and clubs organised by the public, the mayor said.
