Urban development and a city centre car park to mark the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács

A government decision will provide funds for major investments in Mohács to mark the half-millennium anniversary of the Battle of 1526. The development will include the construction of a car park on an unused part of the site of the nationally renowned iron foundry of the dualist period, the Joszt Jakab Géphany (Joszt Jakab Machine Factory), later known as the bread factory.

In addition to eighty-eight cars, there is also space for motorbikes

The building, which will consist of three levels of parking, will have a street façade 10.37 metres high, designed by architect Gyula Dombai. The building's attic will be used by the Mayor's Office to store its archives, which cannot be scrapped.

The ground floor of the car park has space for 30 cars and the two upper floors for 29-29 cars, for a total of 88 cars and three motorcycles.

The facility will of course also include barrier-free parking and, in the first phase, eight electric car chargers. However, the electrical network and mechanical installations will be designed to allow for the charging of up to 26 vehicles in the future.

There will also be a lift and a public toilet in the building

It is planned to use an open solution for the car park, meaning that heat and smoke ventilation will be provided naturally. The street and courtyard facades, on the other hand, will require ventilation. Two sides of the building would be connected to the adjacent properties by firewalls. Safe and quick access to the car park will be facilitated by a lift, with four stops and a capacity of eight people.
The project will be built on a 1660 square metre plot of land on the site of the former bread factory in Mohács, with a green area of around 170 square metres around the car park. The total area of the 3-storey building will exceed 4,000 square metres. As a replacement, the car park will also include a public pay toilet block.

Budapest company to build the car park

The prefabricated prefabricated parking garage will be built with ground floor, 1st and 2nd floor articulation, with a high roof on the street front and a loft. The walls will be 30 cm thick, while 25 cm monolithic reinforced concrete slabs will be used for the slabs.
According to the notice published in the public procurement notice, the municipality has awarded the contract to Fenstherm Kontakt Kft. of Budapest.
