Focusing on green steel casting, a Hungarian investor is reviving the former Orosháza site of Alföldi Kohászati és Gépipari Zrt..

A Hungarian-owned company, Emicast Zrt., is launching a 6-7 billion forint investment in Orosháza, at the former Alföldi Kohászati és Gépipari Zrt. (AKG) site, which is based on green steel casting, the region's Member of Parliament announced on his social media page on Thursday.

Norbert Erdős wrote:,

Production is scheduled to commence in 2026, with 70 to 80 jobs expected to be created in the following years.

The project is important not only from an industrial perspective, but also from a human perspective: former AKG specialists can return to Orosháza, work here again, and build a future here, he pointed out, among other things.

Machines are being brought from Finland to Orosháza

At the beginning of December, János Raffai, Mayor of Orosháza, introduced CEO Gábor Wolf at an economic forum held at the town hall, who explained that Emicast Zrt. is a newly established subsidiary of Emika Zrt., based in Kalocsa. In May 2025, the owners decided to purchase the AKG site in Orosháza, and after developing and acquiring the site and machinery, they plan to start series production in the autumn of 2026.

According to a report by beol.hu, the director stated that the investment has several parts:

  • renovation of buildings on the site,
  • the purchase of machinery (which is currently underway, with most of it being imported from Finland),
  • as well as providing solar parks and storage capacity.

The latter is key to the competitiveness of foundry investments, emphasised the CEO.

The aim of the venture is to increase the number of employees to 80 following technological upgrades and energy investments, and to commence production in the second half of 2026.

However, workers will be hired at the beginning of next year, training is scheduled to start in February 2026, and preliminary contracts will be signed with participants, said Gábor Wolf.
