Bridge over a mountain: a special mission for STRABAG's Hungarian road builders

STRABAG Hungary's community page reported on a project in Croatia. The international company's Hungarian road construction team has completed important works on a 152-metre-long bridge that will span the Cetina River at Omis on the Dalmatian coast.

The bridge, which will span 70 metres above the river, is part of a long-planned route linking the towns of Trogir, Solin, Split and Omis. A special feature of the structure is that each end will open from a tunnel.

This is the only technology that can be used to build steel bridges

According to the Community post, the Strabag Hungary specialists are responsible for the construction of the protective layer and the guideway of the steel bridge connecting the two tunnels drilled into the rock, using cast asphalt, which they have been commissioned to do by the Croatian company STRABAG.

During the works, the two-lane bridge was overlaid with a modified bituminous cast asphalt wearing course. This is the only technology that can be used as a barrier for steel bridges, as it is able to move with the thermal expansion of the bridge.
