The bypass 8647 was built as a dual carriageway of about 4 kilometres by Dömper, Subterra-Raab and Pannon-Doprastav.

In Sopron, the north-western bypass of the M85 motorway was opened to traffic on 6 May.

The new bypass road was constructed as part of the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium complex investment project, which consisted of the SDD Konzorcium construction comprising Dömper Kft., Subterra-Raab Kft. and Pannon-Doprastav Kft.. In addition to the new road handed over on Monday, the development also includes the construction of a 4.2-kilometre section of the M85 expressway between the Fertőrákos junction and the national border, as well as the construction of a 780-metre tunnel in Sopron on the final section.

The project, now completed, has created the bypass 8647 as a dual carriageway of about 3.6 kilometres between the M85 and the Ágfalvi road leading west from Sopron.

The bypass was completed two months before the deadline

The new road can be accessed and exited from the M85 motorway at the "Sopron Nyugat" special junction. The new section of the road also includes five roundabouts, five structures and a level crossing. As part of the project, a roundabout was built at the intersection of Nyugat-majori út, Somfalvi út and Ágfalvi út. A new section of Terv Street was extended to the roundabout on Somfalvi Road and several dirt roads were constructed. Two new bus shelters and three pedestrian crossings have been added to ensure pedestrian safety.

At the handover ceremony, it was revealed that the construction of the north-western bypass, which has two lanes, started in December 2019 and was completed two months ahead of the contract deadline.
