Highway 47 from Debrecen to the southern bypass will be widened to four lanes

Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium has published the winners of the public procurement for the preparation of the improvement of the road 47 near Debrecen.

A level junction must also be designed

The planning tasks for the 47 motorway will be carried out in two parts. On the one hand, a four-lane dual carriageway is to be prepared between kilometre sections 5+280 and 7+630. This part of the project will widen the 47 between the 4808 (the roundabout on the map above the 47), which leads to Hosszúpályira and crosses Erdőspusta, and the 481 (numbered on the map), which bypasses Debrecen from the south and leads to the southern industrial area, which is also the site of the CATL factory. This is effectively a 2.35-kilometre extension of the four-lane section leading out of the city, which currently runs to the 4808. This work will be carried out by Pannonway Építő Kft..

According to the public procurement contract, a level crossing will also be built at the junction of road 47 and Hermann Kronseder Street, so the preparation of this will also be carried out by the design company.

The future construction of a relief road should also be taken into account

The other part of the project is the design of the junction at the junction of Ék Street on the 4+440 km section of the 47 motorway, i.e. the existing four-lane section of the motorway. This sub-project is to be designed by Via Futura Engineering, Consultancy and Services Kft., according to the contract notice.

The design requires the construction of a multi-lane roundabout junction at the intersection of the existing four-lane main road 47 and Ék Street, which is also suitable for integration into the junction of the future Debrecen internal relief road.

This is not the only place where the 47 will be expanded

The 215-kilometre-long Route 47 is one of Hungary's busiest main roads, serving as the primary freight transport axis between Debrecen and Szeged. Accordingly, converting it into a four-lane road has long been a strategic goal. As we mentioned in our previous article, ÉKM has launched preparations for the four-lane expansion on four additional sections, totalling more than 37 kilometres.
