Road building
Modernisation of the M1-M0 motorway junction starts
Renovation work will begin at the M1-M0 junction on Saturday, 14 September, as part of the next phase of levelling work on the M1 motorway, according to MKIF Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt.
The works are expected to last until 31 October and will involve traffic restrictions and the closure of junctions, they said. They recalled that work had already been carried out at the same location last year, but only the most essential renovations had been carried out due to the renovation of the main line 1 railway line and the provision of replacement buses.
In its statement, MKIF pointed out that as many tasks as possible will be carried out during the current closure, i.e.
- the asphalt pavement will be replaced by replacing the entire wearing course and binder course,
- replace the waterproofing,
- the construction of the sealing protection mastic asphalt,
- repair of the kerb protection coating
- and the construction of the pavement drain.
Road closures will be necessary during the works, which will be announced in advance in the MKIF information page, and up-to-date information will be available on the ÚTINFORM page. Road signs will also help to keep drivers informed.
The process of upgrading the hundreds of kilometres of expressway network managed by the Hungarian infrastructure developer, and the coordination of this large-scale project, is described in the interview conducted by our newspaper with Fruzsina Benedek, the company's development coordination director, in the summer.
