Work on the closed section of the M30

In close cooperation with its colleagues at Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium, STRABAG has begun preparations to reinforce the unstable soil structure on the section of the M30 motorway affected by the closure, the company announced in a Facebook post.

The aim, the post says, is to find a permanent solution as soon as possible on the affected section of the motorway and to make the motorway safer and less problematic.

Experts have been working to find slips in the track structure

On 17 February last year, the M30 motorway's Sikszo section was closed by the maintenance and operation company Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. (MKIF) after the road structure shifted in several places and the pavement cracked. The investor Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium has indicated that the cause of the problem should be investigated by the contractor STRABAG.
The contractor has engaged independent experts, geotechnical and geological, to investigate the cause of the
slip of the track structure and has developed recommendations to remedy the problem.
