Three side-by-side finishers paved the wearing course on the Hungaroring finish line, 620 river metres in length, for a total of 8866 square metres.

Over the past two years, Hungary's only Formula 1 race track has undergone the biggest change in its history, with the main building and grandstand set to be completely renovated by 2026. The development is being carried out by Market Építő Zrt. and Bayer Construct Zrt.. The asphalting of the home stretch was recently completed by SWIETELSKY Magyarország Kft..

Although the classic layout of the Hungaroring remains unchanged, the asphalt surface of the home straight has been renewed for this year's race so that, as in previous years, the track meets the highest international standards, according to Hungaroring Sport Zrt.

Three finishers, running side by side, laid the wearing course in the final straight - a total of 860 tonnes of special asphalt mix with a higher softening point. These machines were supplied with two so-called "wavers" to minimise longitudinal waves and to ensure a uniform texture.

Paving of the finish line completed in three days

The formulation of the mixture has already been determined by SWIETELSKY experts and a large-scale test construction was carried out this year. Because of the specific requirements, it was important to get the mix installed as quickly as possible.

The preparation, i.e. the mowing of the wearing course, took two days, and the asphalting itself took one day, with technical support from Italian Dromo experts (as last year for the asphalting of the section above the tunnels).

The renewed asphalt of the finish line will first be tested by the GT Open drivers, and then by the Formula 1 field and the competitors of the inset races during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
