This is where a new cycle path near Komárom could lead

The Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) project is preparing to build a new cycle path connecting to the Eurovelo 6 cycle route that runs alongside settlements near the Danube: The design tender has been announced.

In connection with the development of the southern industrial area of Ács (between Ács and Bábolna, south of the M1 motorway), a new investment area is being created. Due to the logistical connections of the investment, it has become necessary to review the surrounding infrastructure, according to the ministry's justification for the development in TED, available at data available in TED.

As they continue, in addition to the renovation, modernisation and development of the surrounding road network, they are also taking into account the plans made in connection with the expansion of the M1 motorway. All this means that it will be necessary to build a cycle path connecting the area with the surrounding settlements and linking it to the EuroVelo6 international cycle route network.

The track will also pass over the M1 motorway

The planned route of the new cycle path, 13.5 km in total, can be divided into three sections. The first (southern) section will follow the route of road 8151 j between Bábolna and Ács for about 6.5 km and will cross the M1 motorway at a joint structure with the road. The planned route is Bábolna (Wesselényi Miklós Street) - Ács southern industrial area/M1 motorway junction (the cycle track is planned to cross the motorway) - Ács, built-up area (TSZ road). On the Bábolna-M1 motorway section, the cycle track would run along the western side of road 8151 (Ácsi út), while on the M1 motorway - Ács section, the cycle track would run along the northern side of road 8151 (Petőfi Sándor u.).

The second (middle) part within the municipality of Ács, the crossing section would run along Petőfi Sándor street - Fő street - Gyár street - 8153 j. to the main road 1 for about 5.5 km. The third (northern) section would follow the Lovadi road between Ács - EuroVelo 6 for about 1.5 km.

Six and a half kilometres of completely new cycle path planned

In addition, the total length of the design can again only be divided into three parts based on the type of road:

• 6.5 km of new continuous cycle paths (width: 3.00m);
• and 5.5 km of continuous cycle lanes through residential areas;
• or 1.5 km of continuous mixed-use road
