The second phase of the Flórián Square flyover will start at the end of October, with KM Építő working with HE-DO. The development is another step in the renewal of the transport infrastructure in the district.

A major milestone has been reached in the renovation of the southern bridge and the connecting retaining wall sections of Florian Square: on Thursday 16 October, the contractor's experts started the asphalting of the flyover, which is expected to last until the first half of next week. First the lower binding layer and then, in the following days, the upper wearing course of rolled asphalt will be applied to the bridge deck and the connecting road surfaces.

This will be followed by, among other things, the installation of moulded asphalt drainage channels along the edges, the painting of road markings, and the installation of missing steel bridge accessories, such as guard rails , according to information sent to our newspaper by Budapesti Közlekedési Központ (BKK).

The technical handover of the southern bridge is coming

On completion of the works, the technical handover of the southern bridge section is expected to start on 31 October: the BKK technicians, technical inspectors and the future management and operating companies will inspect the area thoroughly and request improvements if necessary. Minor field works may still be carried out during the inspection process, after which the bridge will be put into temporary operation.

The general construction of the Flórián Square project is being carried out by KM Építő Kft. with the participation of HE-DO, as we regularly report. The implementation plans were prepared by FŐMTERV Mérnöki Tervező Zrt..

Road traffic on the renewed flyover towards Pest can start by the onset of winter

All this, as highlighted by BKK, means that road traffic on the renewed flyover in the direction of Pest is expected to start by the onset of winter. At the same time, the contractor will immediately start the construction of the temporary traffic engineering works for the second phase of the overpass, the reconstruction of the northern bridge.

Due to the necessary traffic restrictions, BKK requests that those travelling in the area use public transport during the renovation period, if possible, in order to reduce traffic congestion in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid Flórián Square and use alternative routes to reach their destinations. Special bus lanes will be set up for this purpose. Details of the traffic diversion can be found on this website.
