The project got off to a slow start

As we previously reported, the public procurement process has been slow. Companies submitted more than 440 scoring requests for the tender launched last January, so the procurement was suspended for a while.

Significant progress on the Hungarian side

Work is proceeding at full speed on the Hungarian side, as we have reported on several occasions here. The Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium investment, the implementation of Duna Aszfalt Építő Zrt. project, a 28.15-kilometre four-lane road will be built between Mátészalka and Ököritófülpös.
This will be followed by the construction of the section between Ököritófülpös and Csenger, creating a fast connection between the M3 motorway and the Hungarian-Romanian border crossing near Szatmárnémeti.

Major earthworks on the Hungarian section of the M49 to be completed this year

The first 10 kilometres of the Mátészalka-Ököritófülpös section are nearing completion. At the same time, the majority of the earthworks on the entire section will be completed this year, and significant progress has been made on the road and bridge construction.
