The renovation of Nyír Plaza is over: the shopping centre was transformed in a year and a half

Under the auspices of the Indotek Group national mall renovation programme, Nyír Plaza, one of the most important shopping centres in Nyíregyháza and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, underwent a major renovation in 2024-2025, the real estate developer said in a statement.

The multi-stage development renewed the interior spaces and services of the 14,000 square metre mall, which houses more than 50 shops and the city's multiplex cinema, and upgraded the building's mechanical systems with energy-efficient solutions that guarantee long-term operational sustainability.

Boiler, liquid coolers, solar power plant

The first phase of the renovation, which started in 2024, included the installation of a new high-efficiency condensing boiler and state-of-the-art liquid chillers, as well as the modernisation of the air handling system serving the common areas with innovative control systems. On the roof of the building, following structural renovation and insulation, a solar power plant has been installed, which contributes to the energy supply of the building and reduces its environmental impact.

2500 square metres of walls painted

In the spring of 2025, the interior renovation of the building began: more than 4,000 square metres of flooring was replaced, 2,500 square metres of walls were painted, while 750 square metres were updated with unique design wallpaper.

The lighting has been upgraded with 700 new LED lamps and individual LED decorative lamps that serve both energy efficiency and aesthetic purposes. By removing the former podium system in the food court, a spacious space was created.
