Hungarian House of Music: the plaque of the most prestigious recognition of the construction industry was installed

In our most recent article reported on the latest award won by the Hungarian House of Music winning another award, as the facility won a gold medal at the World Roofing Championships (IFD Award) in Merano, Italy. Now, the most prestigious award in the construction industry, the Quality Award plaque, has also been placed on site.

The opening ceremony was opened by Tihamér Szalay, Ybl Prize-winning architect, on behalf of the Master of Architecture Foundation. He stressed:

"This building has won almost every award. There have been an incredible number of evaluations, a lot of praise, but the first thing I want to highlight is the incredible weight and importance of architecture and architectural works.

I've seen people come out of the building with a smile, and it's all thanks to this architectural work. Not just for its function, but for the quality and craftsmanship of the high architecture that cannot be expressed in words. The architecture has a power that affects the whole of society, every resident, every tourist and everyone here."

In his speech, Tihamér Szalay also highlighted the positive feedback from the building's designer, Fujimoto Sou, a few months ago, in which he also mentioned the unique cooperation between all the actors involved in the realization of the Hungarian House of Music. He made special mention of the Hungarian designers, the contractors, all the subcontractors and the technical inspectors. "Everybody worked with incredible enthusiasm for this building to make it what the designer originally had in mind."

Budapest is living its "second golden age"

Dr. Benedek Gyorgyevics, CEO of Városliget Zrt. said:

"I would like to highlight a few people who do not own a company, do not run a cultural institution, nor necessarily hold a corporate director position, but they are the ones who are most responsible for the Hungarian House of Music being able to exist in this capacity.

Márton Horn, who played an active role in the conceptualisation of the content from the very beginning, and in the architectural programme. Balázs Papatyi, who led and managed the construction on site, and Tamás Brockhauser, who validated the engineering side of the project. Without you, this building would certainly not be of such a high quality."

He added: "Budapest is in its second golden age, when wonders like the Hungarian House of Music can be created. I am proud that all of us have been able to participate and be part of this. We have a story to tell our grandchildren."

The builder who gives a house a soul

In his speech, Balázs Papatyi, the project's chief engineer, recalled the situation two years ago, when all they had in mind was to create a perfect building that would meet all expectations. And as time goes on, he believes that he has achieved that," he said.

"We have succeeded, and the Hungarian House of Music has been collecting these legitimate and rightful achievements before, during and even now. In this series, this Prize is really a little bit more special for us. It is special because the judging committee saw in it that without it there is no finished building, no good building and no soul to the house. And that is the builder. A builder who is not only technically present, but also in his everyday life, in his way of living and in his perception, and who wants to do more than just build a house.

I'm not sure that we will be confronted with a Hungarian House of Music every year, but we will be confronted with the man who builds. In this constructive man we find another man, we find ourselves. I wish for you and for us that there will be more buildings like this, that we will be part of it, that we will be able to use the knowledge we have acquired here.

Thanks to the whole team for allowing us to do this here. Thank you to the management of Magyar Építő Zrt., Városliget Zrt., the entire engineering team and the subcontracting team for allowing me to stand here with you", said Balázs Papatyi.

All participants in the project had only one goal in mind

The CEO of Magyar Építő Zrt., Zoltán Szikszai, also shared his festive thoughts:

"In my career, before or since, there has never been a project where there has been such close cooperation between the participants. We had our difficulties, but we were always looking in the same direction, and everyone had the same vision: to build this fantastic building to the quality and exactly as the designers had envisioned. It was only possible because great people and great companies got together.

More than 1 million 300 thousand visitors have visited this fantastic building since it opened in 2022. That's how many people have been amazed by the surroundings of City Park, this building and the cultural and musical events that take place here. That's why I thought today's event was the right time to say thank you."

Zoltán Szikszai pointed out that although this list may be long, he believes that there could not be a better occasion to honour these companies, colleagues and professionals. Zoltán Szikszai then thanked the contractor, the consortium of engineers, the designers, the Magyar Építő Zrt. project team and the subcontractors for their outstanding technical quality and cooperation.

"I was at the helm of Magyar Építő Zrt. less than a week ago, when I got there, I realised that the Company didn't have a slogan and I thought that a slogan was appropriate for a company that is more than 130 years old. And so it was born: we create value. I think that with this building, Magyar Építő Zrt. and the team that is here today have created value. Thank you very much" - concluded Zoltán Szikszai.

After the speeches, Péter Bálint, Vice-Chairman of the Construction Industry Awards Committee, presented the certificates for the BorbélyHáz Kft., ÉPSZERK-PANNONIA INVEST Építőipari Kft., HÓD-ÉPKER Kft., Indupro Kft., INTERTON Group, L-Build Kft., Metal Hungária Holding Zrt., NEW EDGE Kft., OROSházaGLAS Kft., PBM Mélyépítő Kft., Signum-Bau Kft. and Weinberg ’93 Építő Kft., followed by the unveiling of the Award of Merit plaque and a pleasant reception.
