The fifth Duna Group Szabadegyetem has been launched with an enlarged fleet
The fifth edition of Duna Group Szabadegyetemet, which will take place from 16-18 August this year, has been extremely well attended, with places for the prominent event filling up well before the deadline for applications. The three-day professional workshop will bring together students from civil engineering, architecture, hydraulic engineering, geodesy, geoinformatics, engineering and IT. This year, students from across the border have already attended. The focus of the event will again be on infrastructure development through hightech machines and technologies.
As every year, it was important to give young engineering candidates the opportunity to gain personal experience on project sites, and digitalisation and InfraBIM will be a central theme.
The 50 lucky youngsters will be able to listen to lectures from the best Hungarian experts and see Hungary's most exciting infrastructure construction works first hand: the construction of the M44 motorway and the Duna Aszfalt central asphalt laboratory in Lakitelek.
An interesting part of the programme is a visit to the new Flood Protection Training Centre in Millér, near Szolnok, which is unique in Europe. The facility is named after Gábor Karcagi, the former chief engineer of the Central Tisza Water Management Directorate.
Informal programmes create new bonds
In addition to gaining high quality professional experience, the event also aims to enable students to build a supportive community and develop long-term relationships with each other in a relaxed atmosphere, which will be fruitful in their future careers.
It's a testament to the organisers, the greatest accolade of the last four years, that the fifth Duna Group Szabadegyetem was filled in just a few days. In other words, students are returning home with a lifetime of experiences and are spreading the word about this unique initiative.
