Students from disadvantaged municipalities in terms of further education are tutored.

With a complex support package worth nearly 10 million forints, Market Építő Zrt., Hungary's market-leading building construction company, is joining the Teach for Hungary (TM) programme. The aim of the collaboration is to use the company's professional knowledge and resources to help disadvantaged primary school pupils living in small towns with their career orientation and future success, according to the information sent to our newspaper. They add that Market Építő Zrt. opens a new chapter in its programmes of responsibility towards future generations, which are characterised within the company by the Tudásépítő Team and Career Builder programmes.

Corporate mentoring, career guidance camps

"At Market, we believe that our responsibility does not end with the handover of the buildings. We also have a responsibility to our communities and future generations. Our partnership with Teach for Hungary is not just a grant, but a shared mission to give young people a real, tangible opportunity. Our aim is to show them that knowledge and hard work are the pathways to the future, and that construction is a diverse and exciting career where everyone can find their place. This programme is an investment in Hungary's future and we are proud to be part of it."

- said Scheer Sándor, CEO of Market Építő Zrt. at today's press conference announcing the event.

In the framework of this cooperation, Market Építő Zrt. will support the programme in several areas, building on its personal presence and transfer of expertise. Four times a year, the company opens its doors to students participating in the programme, giving them a first-hand experience of the modern world of construction, the different trades and career opportunities. In addition, Market is funding a summer camp for career guidance, as well as providing logoed T-shirts, playful sports equipment and meals for the mentored children.

Visible results in the programme

György László, Government Commissioner thanked Market Építő Zrt. for joining the Let's Teach for Hungary programme. Every year there are tens of thousands of children who do not acquire a profession because there is no model and therefore find their secondary school education, regular travel and integration into a new community such an ordeal that they give up before they finish. This is where the Let's Teach for Hungary programme comes in: the programme's university mentors show primary school pupils growing up in a town far from work and further education opportunities the experience of the world beyond their town.

Launched on 5 December 2018, the Programme is well on track to achieve its goal: that by 2030, all children in primary school today should have at least a vocational qualification or be in further education. Today, 800 university students are mentoring 3,700 primary school pupils in 110 primary schools across the country. Where the Teach for Hungary programme is present, 10 percentage points more people are going to vocational training instead of technical schools, and the drop-out rate from secondary school has fallen from 54 to close to 30 percent.

"The aim is to give children who don't get enough encouragement at home a tangible future through mentors. This is where you will be able to study, this is where you will be able to work, this is what school looks like, this is what college looks like, this is what your future job looks like, this is what you will be able to earn if you follow the path that is possible for you because of your talent and you can count on me, your mentor, to do that" - the government commissioner said about the aim of the programme. "We share a common cause with businesses in Hungary to show a vision for the future to children growing up. That is why it is important for Market Építő Zrt. to join the programme." - he added.
