KÉSZ Csoport opens a new workshop and offers a new career model

385 thousand people work in the sector and there is still a skills shortage

While there were nearly 385 thousand people working in the construction sector in Hungary in the first quarter of 2025, there is still a significant shortage of skilled workers. According to the official data of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, there are about 1,800 vacancies in the construction industry, and to fill them it is essential to strengthen the training of professionals, KÉSZ Csoport emphasizes in its statement.

They stress that they are addressing the issue of training at a strategic level.

The Group has recently reached another milestone in this area: after the developments in Szeged, the Kecskemét training base will also be expanded with a new workshop, which will include a new electrician's unit, a renewed machinist's (CNC cutting) unit and two training rooms.

Training also focuses on energy modernisation

The Edupark Nkft., which coordinates the company's vocational training, aims to provide modern training tailored to industry needs. Following the 1200 square metre workshop in Szeged, Kecskemét also offers students and adults eager to learn a modern, expanded educational infrastructure. The new base will provide students with multifunctional, easily adaptable spaces and the latest teaching technology. Students can learn in-demand skills such as electrical installation, building services, welding and CNC programming.

„The training workshops serve not only to train new recruits, but also to provide retraining and professional development. Our goal is to contribute to the development of workers in the sector with KÉSZ Csoport, paying particular attention to the challenges of energy modernisation. In addition, we plan to expand technician training in the future, with the aim of supporting higher-level professional qualifications and the integration of qualified technicians into the workplace,” said Zsuzsanna Naderi, managing director of Edupark Nkft., with whom our newspaper previously conducted a comprehensive interview.

Successful exams, low drop-out rate

The Edupark currently operates in two cities, Szeged and Kecskemét.

In the 2024/2025 school year, 339 students and 334 adults participated in our vocational training courses. The success of the courses is demonstrated by the fact that 97% of the students passed their vocational exams and the drop-out rate was only 2%. Student satisfaction is 82 percent and 43 percent of graduates go on to further education.

The quality of the training is also proven by the fact that the students of Edupark have achieved outstanding results in prestigious professional competitions: they won 1st place in the "Professional Star" competition in the welding profession, while two Edupark technician students won 1st and 5th place in the international "Junior Skills" competition in the building engineering sector.

110 thousand hour years

They emphasise that KÉSZ Csoport also promotes construction professions within the framework of industry cooperation: In 2022, it will collaborate with two major Hungarian-owned industry players, Bayer Construct Zrt.and Market Építő Zrt., it established Tudásépítő Team Sectoral Training Centre Non-profit Zrt., which aims to support the training of new recruits and increase the recognition of those working in the sector. The company believes that the establishment of such modern training centres plays a significant role in training new recruits and increasing the competitiveness of the sector.

They conclude by emphasising that KÉSZ Csoport also pays special attention to the education of its own employees, and provides a much wider learning and development opportunity than the mandatory training in occupational safety and fire protection.

In 2023, for example, staff attended a total of eighty different training courses, totalling more than 110,000 hours of training, with an annual training hour per person of nearly 60.
