KSH: Construction output 4.9% higher in July than a year earlier

On a year-on-year basis, the value of new contracts signed in the summer month was significantly below the high base, but the stock of contracts still increased.

In July 2025, the volume of construction output was 4.9% higher than a year earlier, according to both raw and working day adjusted data, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.

Based on seasonally and working-day adjusted indices, construction output was 0.8 percent above June 2025.

 

Construction of buildings provided the positive output value, with the indicator increasing by one and a half times

In July, construction of buildings and other construction increased by 46.1% and 12.5% respectively compared to a year earlier. Output in the largest sector, specialised construction, fell by 15.4 per cent.

 

 

The value of new contracts was below the high base value, but the stock of contracts was high

In its report, the HCSO said that the volume of new contracts concluded was 48.9% lower than the very high base of a year earlier, with contracts for the construction of buildings 16.5% higher and those for the construction of other structures 66.3% lower.

The volume of contracts in the construction sector at the end of July was 1.9% higher than a year earlier, with contracts for the construction of buildings 9.7% lower and those for other construction 9.3% higher than in July 2024.

In the first seven months of 2025, construction output was up 0.8% year-on-year.
