Railway connection for the Nyíregyháza Industrial Park: the search for a designer

The industrial park in the county seat could soon strengthen its economic role with a direct rail link.

Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium is seeking a designer for the railway transport connections of the Nyíregyháza Industrial Park. The call for tenders was published on 28 April 2025 in the EU public procurement notice. The deadline for submitting bids is 3 June 2025.

The ÉKM will have the related feasibility study completed in 2023. Based on the documents prepared, the successful bidder will be responsible for the preparation of the permit, execution and tender plans, as well as Volumes III, IV and V of the tender documents for the construction, and for the execution of the permit procedures for all the necessary sections and the obtaining of the permits.

The design phase concerns the section of railway line 113 between Nyíregyháza and Matészalka, where the railway track has to be redesigned to ensure an axle load of 225 kN from the Nyíregyháza station section 8+48 hm to the section 76+00 hm.

For accessibility from Nyíregyháza, a new connecting delta track with a permitted speed of V=40 km/h connecting the right and left tracks should be planned in the vicinity of the 2650+00 hm section of the railway line No. 100 (Debrecen - Nyíregyháza).

They would also set up a loading bay

As part of the project, the design of the station marshalling and terminal loading functions is also required. The terminal will have three tracks, two of which will need to be made accessible by bucket trucks to allow container transfer. A paved area of 15 200 square metres will be provided for short-term storage of containers.

In addition, a 300-metre long loading siding for conventional trucks, with a front loading area of 5,900 square metres, will be created.

Electrification and bridge construction also part of the project

The project includes the electrification of the railway line from Nyíregyháza station to the Industrial Park, as well as the necessary interventions at the junction of railway line 100. A new bridge and associated road network will have to be designed for the separate crossing of Simai út and the two railway lines.

Another task is the reconstruction design of the section of railway line 113 from 76+00 hm to Nagykálló station, the design of the structures above the watercourse and the reconstruction of a road crossing, as well as the design of 35 siding.
