The new block of the Székesfehérvár hospital is getting taller - photos and figures

We regularly write about one of the most important, or perhaps the most significant, healthcare developments in western Hungary. The investment is taking place as part of the Modern Cities Programme at the Fejér County Szent György University Teaching Hospital, which will see the institution expanded with a new building at Fejér-B.Á.L. Zrt. and Épkar Zrt..

The works will also include new infrastructure for oncology, pulmonology and infectology (cancer patients, patients requiring lung care and patients undergoing infection prevention and treatment).

The new three-and-a-half-storey "L" building will be connected to a new 1,000 square metre connecting corridor, which will be upgraded to a currently used route, and will also include a suspension bridge to serve the hospital when the work is completed.

A total of 112 single or double rooms will be available for visitors

We now present fresh photos of the construction, and in a statement issued earlier this month, the hospital has also provided a numerical summary of the details of the monumental "L" building, which you can read below:

• the building will have a useful floor area of 6 113,5 m²,
• It will have 64 wards with 112 beds,
• 25 percent of the rooms will be single and 75 percent double,
• and natural light will enter through 149 windows and 218 m² of glass walls.

Nearly 4000 cubic metres of concrete and 30 thousand bricks

The consortium has so far used at least 3,580 m3 of concrete, 617 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 28,200 bricks.

They also add: the priority medical spaces, rooms with sterile requirements, will be treated with a special germ and fungicide paint, forming a homogeneous coating system.
