What is being built?

After the navigation lock, this time the special temporary bridge developed by STRABAG is used over an underpass under construction

Published

In Dunaharaszti, a railway bridge proving ground developed by STRABAG's bridge construction specialists is being installed to ensure the continuity of construction railway traffic in the Budapest-Belgrade (BuBe) project.

For the third time in Hungary, this time in Dunaharaszti, a temporary bridge element of type STRABAG P12.60 type temporary bridge element was installed in Hungary, this time in Dunaharaszti, to ensure that the construction of the new pedestrian underpass would not disrupt the construction rail traffic necessary for the implementation of the BuBe project.

Several temporary bridges are installed

As part of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line development, road and pedestrian underpasses are being built in the town of 20,000 inhabitants in Pest county. These will create safe passage between the parts of the town divided by the railway line 150. The work under the railway will require several track relocations.

The installation of the provizorium will allow rail traffic for construction to continue

The new Eötvös Street pedestrian underpass is being built on the 142+10 hm section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line. On 26 February, the temporary bridge element of type STRABAG P12,60 was erected here, which will allow rail traffic to be maintained during the construction of the underpass.

A hundred and twenty tonne crane lifted the special bridge elements

The inclusion of the provisorium was an unusual sight. The STRABAG P12,60 temporary railway bridge steel main girder and precast reinforced concrete base frames were transported by road from the STRABAG Gyal site to Dunaharaszti. At the railway crossing in Rákóczi Ferenc Street, a 120-ton KIROW railway crane lifted the special load and placed the proviziorum over the underpass after 300 meters on the rails.

Due to the narrow site, the existing overhead cables and the advanced construction of the right track, access to the work area and the installation of the railway provizórium was only possible by rail crane.

Up to 39 metres can be bridged by assembling several provicories

The temporary P12,60 type rail bridge developed by STRABAG is part of a modular system in which two or even three elements can be assembled.

This allows for the construction of a 25.80-metre-long or, if necessary, 39-metre-long provizorio. The technical drawings for the temporary modular railway bridge system were drawn up by TERVKOVÁCS Kft. and adapted by the company's experts for the current installation.

The STRABAG is equipped with three P12.60 type P12.60 rail gantries, each 13.20 m long.

They have the required load capacity - load LM71 according to VHSz instruction H.1.2 - even at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

The temporary bridge allows both rail and road crossings

The company has developed the P12.60 provisorium so that it can be installed as a temporary bridge for both rail and road. The first installation in Hungary was carried out in Kétegyháza. During the construction of a platform underpass on the 1020+96 hm section of the Békéscsaba-Lökösháza railway line, STRABAG ensured the continuity of train traffic on 2 tracks by installing two P12,60 type modules for MÁV Zrt.. During the installation, a test load of the structure was also carried out here.

Bridge over the navigation lock

The second installation took place in a special location. In Siófok, a P12.60 rail proviso was installed to allow road freight vehicles to pass through the shipping lock under construction. The site in Dunaharaszti is the third in a series where the provisorium is providing a great service by ensuring the continuity of the rail traffic under construction.
