The Polders Ferry Terminal in Polders will be reborn in its original elegant form

BORD Építész Stúdió is working on the restoration plans for the Szántód building at the Tihany ferry terminal, used by Lake Balaton’s main ferry service – as revealed in the agency’s post published over the weekend.

In it, two very good preliminary visual plans were published and the renewal of the Szántód-Tihany ferry port was presented as one of the most exciting projects of this year. They added that their plans for the revitalisation of the Sárváród ferry port include the restoration of the 60s hyperbolic-paraboloid-shaped reinforced concrete shell passenger lounge, which will remain an iconic feature of the port.

The intention of BORD is to highlight the site's defining natural asset, the reedbeds, which will be brought to the forefront of the attention of ferry passengers by the creation of an aerial viewing route. From here you will be able to look out over the water, the reeds and the entire harbour, as well as walk out onto the pier.

A new building unit has also been designed to house the necessary service functions: its L-shaped broken mass is closely connected to the walkway and forms a simple wall between the harbour and the reedbed.
