The renovation of the surgical block of the SZTE Children's Hospital can be carried out by Bodrogi Bau.

In 1926, the construction of the University of Szeged buildings was started by the decision of Kunó Klebelsberg, Minister of Culture. Completed in 1929, this ambitious development was designed by one of the stars of the time, Flóris Korb. The buildings of the successor to the Cluj Academy were constructed in a pavilion-like arrangement on the Tisza bank plots, in a typical example of the hospital buildings of the time, in a functional order.

Renovation started after years of waiting

The pediatric surgery building of the Szent-Györgyi Albert University of Szeged's Paediatric Clinic and Paediatric Health Centre is also part of this line, the renovation of which has been awaited by the staff and patients for many years.

The surgical wing of the Paediatric Clinic, located at 14-15 Korányi fasor, will now be renovated at a cost of approximately 728 million forints by the winning bidder, Bodrogi Bau Kft for approximately 728 million forints.

The winner of the public procurement has 245 days to complete the necessary tasks on the locally protected building located in the historic area of Szeged. In addition to replacing doors and windows, wall and floor coverings, and painting, two complete panel rooms must also be constructed with the associated medical gas network and sterile air conditioning system.

Two new operating theatres to be built

The total area involved in the construction of the operating theatre block is 386.68 m2 net, where the contractor is responsible for the necessary new openings and slab replacements, new windows, cladding and the installation of the necessary building services and building services mains.

The design is expected to include a Level III progressive paediatric surgical and traumatology operating block,

where two operating theatres with associated preparation, working and scrubbing rooms and a six-bed post-operative recovery room (with bedrails) are to be located.

In the main stairwell, the Bodrogi Bau staff must create a pressurized, smoke-free area on a total of five floors. This will include new pressurised mechanical ventilation and a 1250 kg capacity firefighting lift without machine room in the existing shaft, replacing the current hydraulic lift. A 1600 kg overhead hoist with a load capacity of 500 kg will be installed by the contractor to replace the existing 500 kg hoist.
