In two phases, Épkar is carrying out a major modernisation of the University of Miskolc dormitories. The renovation of buildings E/3 and E/4 is due to be completed soon.

„We're in the home stretch,” – writes Épkar Zrt. about the first phase of the complex dormitory development at the University of Miskolc community page , where they have also posted numerous photos. The renovation of dormitories E/3 and E/4 will soon be completed.

The apartments will be available for the first time this summer for the U20 Division B Women's Basketball European Championship.

The University of Miskolc will become more attractive for Hungarian and foreign students through a number of improvements: following the infrastructure improvements in the University City to serve students, the interior and exterior reconstruction of buildings E/-3 and E/4 started in the autumn of 2024.

As Péter Boda, Director of Operations, Sports and Student Accommodation, explains in Miskolc University website:

"The finishing touches are being put on both dormitories, and in several places the furniture is already in place. Hopefully, we will be ready in time, which is important because we will be welcoming guests in the renovated facilities during the summer."

By 2026, all the university's colleges will be renewed

Modern buildings with modern mechanical and insulation systems, air-conditioned rooms, apartments with kitchenettes and private bathrooms, as well as a laundry and cooking kitchen and a community space will be available for students in the dormitory buildings, which will be renewed in two phases.

In the first phase of the €4.4 billion investment, buildings E/3 and E/4 will be renovated, currently with double and quadruple rooms, corridors, shared bathrooms and kitchens. The net floor area of the two dormitories totals 9241 square metres, which will be modernised by Épkar staff over a period of 9 months, according to schedule.

The project will also affect the surroundings of the dormitories: more than 50 paved parking spaces will be created, as well as access roads, pavements and modern outdoor lighting. The contractor is expected to take over the Phase II worksite in September 2025.
