The buildings of the ambulance station located in the historic city centre require significant intervention, therefore a complete renovation is being prepared. The work covers all disciplines.

The conditional public procurement procedure Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium is seeking seeking a designer and contractor for the renovation of the Szentendre ambulance station.

A building complex in poor condition can be renovated

According to the justification for the tender, the ambulance station is located in the centre of Szentendre's old town; due to the age of the building complex and the lack of maintenance, it is in a significantly deteriorated condition, both structurally and physically. The aim of the investment is to completely renovate and reconstruct the existing buildings, affecting all disciplines, while maintaining the current dimensions.

Design tasks

The successful tenderer will be responsible for preparing the detailed designs based on the available, approved design documentation. This includes the demolition and detailed designs, as well as the necessary exploratory investigations. The design work includes a comprehensive architectural, structural and timber protection analysis, as well as the preparation of related expert opinions.

Construction tasks

During construction, the 441-square-metre building complex will undergo renovation in all areas, from construction work to structural, mechanical and electrical tasks.

The ensemble consists of three main units:

  • from the main building overlooking Rév Street, where the ambulance service garages and social rooms are located;
  • the previously constructed clinic and office building on the corner of Bogdányi and Dunaár Streets;
  • and the neck section connecting the two parts, which serves as a resting and holding function.

Functional and technical modernisation at the same time

The most significant renovation will affect the section of the building on Rév Street: here, the floor above the ground floor and the roof structure will need to be demolished and rebuilt in order to create parking spaces and gates of the appropriate size. Excavation surveys are being carried out on the Dunaár Street wing, as previous condition assessments have revealed the most defects here, including weak foundations and a lack of insulation under the walls. These will be remedied during the renovation.

The enclosed passageway facing the inner courtyard will be replaced, and the existing ceiling in the neck section will be demolished and replaced with a steel structure with a low-pitched gable roof. The external envelope of the buildings will be fitted with modern thermal insulation, while the internal partition walls will be completely demolished and rebuilt according to the new functional layout.

The ground floor flooring will be completely renewed, with water and heat insulation that meets today's requirements. The old plaster will be removed from the remaining walls, which will be given a new finish, and the doors, windows and roof coverings will also be replaced. The roof structure will be renovated based on the results of structural and timber protection inspections.

During the mechanical works, the water and sewerage network will be completely renovated, an oil separator will be installed to treat the waste water from the car wash, and a 5 cubic metre reservoir will be built to utilise rainwater. The offices and social rooms will be heated and cooled by modern split systems, while the heat demand of the radiator heating system will be covered by a high-efficiency condensing boiler. The attic changing rooms and the car wash will be equipped with heat recovery ventilation. As part of the renovation, the building's entire high- and low-voltage network will also be renewed.

The deadline for submitting applications is 5 February 2026.
