A modern market square is taking shape in Tószeg

A major development project is set to begin in Tószeg. Kossuth Square, located in the eastern part of the town, is undergoing a complete transformation. The aim of the project is to replace the current market facilities with infrastructure that meets modern standards, thereby providing a more comfortable and orderly environment for both traders and shoppers.

According to the public procurement notice states that the project is being implemented by the local council of Tószeg, whilst the contract for the works was awarded to Szilasi és Társa Termelő és Szolgáltató Kft.. The total value of the development, which is being carried out under project number TOP_PLUSZ-6.2.1-23-2024-00012, is 235,950,788 forints.

Indoor hall and modern service areas

A key element of the development is the construction of a new, enclosed market building, which will provide the necessary service facilities across a net floor area of 45.18 m². The building will house

• office space,
• separate changing room with toilet facilities,
• disabled and ladies' toilets,
• men's washroom and toilet,
• plant room,
• or a waste storage facility.

Spacious, covered market stalls await the stallholders

The heart of the market will be the market area, which provides a total of 343.15 m² of net floor space for traders. In connection with this

• Ten L-shaped table arrangements will be set up,
• and the total covered floor area is 388.33 m².

The new covered sales areas allow sales to take place in a pleasant environment, regardless of the weather.

Comprehensive infrastructure development for the complete regeneration of the area

The project is not limited to a single building, but aims to revitalise the entire area. As part of this

• new parking spaces will be created with asphalt and paving stone surfaces (including one accessible space),
• a new asphalt-surfaced road is being built, and the road surface at Kossuth Square is being resurfaced,
• a modern street lighting system is being installed,
• a complete network of public utilities (drinking water, sewage, electricity, stormwater drainage, telecommunications) will be established,
• In addition, a CCTV system will be installed.

A vibrant community space is taking shape

During the development process, particular attention is also being paid to sustainability and community accessibility:

• A solar panel system will be installed on the roof,
• new bicycle racks are being installed,
• pavements with varying textures are being laid to facilitate accessible transport,
• street furniture is being installed (benches, recycling bins),
• the drinking fountain is being renovated,
• as well as movable street furniture.
