A comprehensive programme is being launched to develop cultural buildings in Nyíregyháza
Nyíregyháza’s cultural life is set to receive a boost: the capital of the Nyírség region has secured funding to launch a comprehensive programme under the Top initiative. According to the town’s website the project package involves the development of a total of four buildings, with the aim of ensuring that the modernised cultural and community institutions form an integral part of the town’s infrastructure through their improved quality.
As part of the programme, the municipal library, the community centres in Borbánya and Városmajor, and a youth information office are to be refurbished. In the first phase, a public procurement tender has been issued for the planning of the projects, in accordance with the following details.
According to certificate TED, the development of the Borbányai Community Centre (50 Margaretta Street) includes, amongst other things, the modernisation of the building services and stage technology in the main hall of the single-storey building. In addition, the technical condition of the communal spaces, the outdoor area and green spaces are being improved, as is the rainwater management system.
Progress is also being made at the Zsigmond Móricz County and City Library (14 Szabadság Square), where the 1,661 m² facility is undergoing, amongst other things, the modernisation of its internal mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the removal of the suspended ceilings. In addition, the public toilets on the first and second floors are undergoing a complete refurbishment. Furthermore, the lighting fixtures are being replaced, the mechanical systems are being refurbished, and the liquid cooling system is being replaced with a heat pump. Interestingly, a significant part of the building will be shaded by the construction of a vertical green wall.
The third building involved is the Mustárház Youth Information and Advice Centre (10 Szent I. Street), where the focus is on developing the inner courtyard. Here, a covered-open-air stage and public areas will be created. In addition, the project will include the construction of a fence, paving and a bicycle storage facility, as well as the installation of courtyard lighting and the refurbishment of the car park. This project will also see the development of the courtyard’s green space and the construction of a rainwater collection system.
In the fourth sub-project, the Városmajor Community Centre (Városmajor u. 3.) is being refurbished, with one of the key elements being the modernisation of the building services in the main auditorium. In addition, the general and stage lighting in the main auditorium will be upgraded, amongst other things. Furthermore, the building will be made accessible for access to the large auditorium. At the same time, the green space in the institution’s courtyard will be developed and a rainwater management system will be installed by placing a tank.
