Road building
A few weeks to drive on the new bypass near Sajó
The main road 26 between Miskolc and Sajószentpéter has been widened to four lanes for 15 years, and the huge volume of traffic rushes through the centre of Sajószentpéter. Road 26 at Sajószentpéter has a traffic volume of almost 20,000 vehicles, most of which are lorries. It is no wonder that congestion has been persistent here, so it was important from an environmental and accident prevention point of view to relieve the city's congestion by building a bypass.
The road, which is being built approximately 15 km north of Miskolc, in the area of Sajószentpéter, Berente and Múcsony, is being constructed byHE-DO Zrt. and HE-DO Zrt. and Soltút Kft.. In the process, a 10-kilometre bypass road was built on a new route parallel to Route 26 and the Sajó River.
Technically ready this year
The project will be technically complete by the end of October 2023, and the technical handover procedure will start in the coming days. In November, the defects and deficiencies will be corrected and the technical handover is expected to be completed in the first days of December. The contractor had 32 months to complete the works, well ahead of schedule,
The construction work on the project will be completed this year instead of January 2024.
The next step, following the completion of the technical handover of the bypass, is the placing on the market of the project, initiated by the developer, which could be built with the help of a number of technical specialities:
- During the construction of one of the bridges, a mule structure consisting of steel "I" section longitudinal and cross beams and on-site reinforced concrete deck slabs, built on a temporary assembly deck, was fitted in its final position using "push-in" technology (Soltút Kft.).
- Large-scale excavation works were required in the large water basin (floodplain) of the Sajó river, where binder soil stabilisation technology and target quarry fill material were also required (HE-DO Építő Zrt.).
- River Sajó river bed correction has also proved necessary over a length of about 1 km in the area Natura 2000 under the jurisdiction of two national parks (in particular due to the frequent, high and short duration floods on the Sajó, where water levels can rise by up to 2 metres in 48 hours.
The HE-DO Építő - Zrt. - Soltút Kft. consortium, commissioned by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium to build the bypass, has worked with a number of companies. Thanks to their work, 27 utility lines were replaced, 8 structures were built, 8 sites were watered, dykes were constructed and 10.6 km of 2×1 lane national road was built on a new route, including two new roundabouts to facilitate traffic. One at the crossroads of the main road No 27 towards Edelény and the other at the very end of the section between Múcsony and Kazincbarcika. Also at the end of the second section
- a HE-DO Kft. was responsible for the complete construction of about 3 kilometres of sections and for one structure;
- a Colas Út Zrt. has undertaken the construction of approximately 2 km of sections and two structures;
- a Délút Kft. has undertaken the full construction of a section of around 800 metres;
- a Swietelsky Magyarország Kft. was responsible for the complete construction of almost 5 km of sections and three structures.
- a KM Építő Kft. was responsible, among other things, for the construction of about 5.5 km of road guardrail and the bridge over the Sajó river.
