The HE-DO can only access the work area via the waterworks site, via a purpose-built slip road.

Between Hasznos and Mátrakeresztes, at the reservoir of hasznosi, the left half track broke off due to the slipping of the earthwork gauge. As a result, half-track traffic has been possible on this short stretch of road since August 2023.

Thanks to the project, two-lane, two-way traffic will soon be able to resume, alongside the construction of safe earthworks, according to the general contractor's HE-DO . The project is being implemented under order Magyar Közút Nzrt. with domestic financing. As a subcontractor, the construction of the restraint systems will be carried out by KM Építő Kft. at the end of October.

Works started at the beginning of September and the contract allows 60 calendar days for construction.

"The special feature of the project is the organisation of the approach to the slip gully surface. The slip gully and thus the work area can be approached through the site of the waterworks ÉRV Zrt. (the local waterworks - editor's note)and in such a way that the space between the building wall and the old existing retaining wall supporting the gully is less than 2 metres. We will have to build a separate access ramp and work with our equipment in a careful and cautious way, so as not to damage the nearby plant building and the telecommunication lines of the various service providers in the trench"- said Jenő Reichardt, chief architect of HE-DO, explaining the interesting aspects of the project.

The investment includes the following works:

  • dismantling the left track structure
  • removal of the displaced embankment mass up to the upper level of the retaining wall, and then backfilling of the embankment up to the apron
  • mirror compression
  • geotextile covering for the stairs and the mirror level
  • rebuilding the filling
  • laying of geogrids every 4 metres below the track level
  • construction of a protective layer and earthwork in the upper 50 cm, followed by the construction of the track structure
  • protection of the gutter with 15 cm high geocellas

The reconstruction will involve the complete dismantling and reconstruction of the slipped earthwork and track structure, as shown in the above detail plan.

"Traffic has been diverted to half the lanes, the track and earthworks have been demolished, and the existing embankment is currently being stepped and a new embankment body is being constructed. This will be followed by the construction of the track structure, rehabilitation and construction of drainage systems, construction of retention systems, construction of traffic engineering elements, and landscaping and environmental landscaping"

- reported on the main work progress, the Chief Architect.
