Three cycle paths to be built in this town in south-eastern Hungary

Three cycle paths will be built or renovated in Gyula with 630 million forints of EU funding, the mayor of the city said. According to Ernő Görgényi, the funds awarded from the Operational Programme for Regional and Urban Development (TOP Plus) will be used to finance 

A total of 4512 metres of cycle paths will be upgraded: in Gyulavári, 1268 metres of new sections will be built and the rest will be upgraded.

He stressed that the condition for the tender is that the same amount of money must be committed for the renovation and the construction of a new section. 

It also transforms the surrounding infrastructure

As part of the project, storage for more than 80 bicycles will be installed in several locations and a bus shelter will be installed at two bus stops. In some places, car parks will have to be rebuilt and storm water drainage will have to be improved, while in others, overhead cable poles will have to be replaced or relocated, he said. The Gyulai Köz-Terv Kft. has already prepared the necessary plans and the open public procurement procedure can start once the sponsor contracts have been signed, the mayor added.
