Nearly 150 kilometres of secondary roads to be upgraded in northern Hungary

The rehabilitation of the internal and external sections of Magyarnándor, the internal sections of Nógrádkövesd and the internal sections of Galgaguta will be carried out with localised repairs, track structure replacement and graded pavement reinforcement. In addition to the roadside drainage system and the reconstruction of culverts, 2 of the 4 bridges on the section will also be renewed.

The project also includes the renovation and upgrading of 5 bus shelters on the affected routes, as well as road signs, pavement markings, road fixtures and deterrent systems. During the works, a bus shelter will be relocated and a central island will be rebuilt, they said.

The renovation will include the profiling of the existing pavement, the replacement of the entire track structure where necessary, and the construction of an asphalt wearing course and new pavement over the entire surface. This will be accompanied by the replacement of KRESZ signs and the painting of new permanent pavement signs," the statement said.

Pavement reinforcement is also planned

According to the press release, a scaled pavement reinforcement design is underway for the section between the Galgaguta end sign and the Nógrád-Pest county border, which includes the design of a binding and wearing course over the entire road surface, as well as a profile repair layer in the required locations.

In the Northern Hungary region, four and five-digit roads are being upgraded under the EU's Operational Programme for Spatial and Urban Development Plus.
