Four-digit road to be upgraded near Gyula and the Transylvanian border

The renovation of a 4.8-kilometre section of road 4434 between Medgyesegyháza and Kétegyháza will be completed by the end of the summer at a cost of HUF 412 million. The investment is being financed by the Hungarian Village Programme. András Cserkúti, director of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. in Békés County, said that the developments began eight years ago, and during this time, renovations were carried out on 11 sections from four different sources.

As part of the current project, the entire stretch will be paved with two layers of asphalt, the embankments will be graded to one metre wide, drainage ditches will be created and permanent pavement markings will be painted.

When this section is completed - expected by the end of August - it will be possible to travel from the Magyarbánhegyes access road to Gyula on a fully reconstructed, high-quality road, he noted. He added that during the works, speed restrictions, road narrowing, traffic control with traffic lights and traffic lights should be expected.
