Reservoir damaged by heavy rains protects the Pásztó area again

On 18 December 2024, the technical handover of the project for the rehabilitation of the Muzsla-puszta reservoir near Pásztó was successfully completed, according to the recently published information of the contractor HE-DO.

The works were aimed at restoring the reservoir damaged by the heavy rains of June 2023, in order to ensure that the facility can operate safely in the future, preventing further damage and emergencies.

A temporary bypass was also built

The project involved the restoration of the reservoir's flood control structure and the salvaged side of the dam adjacent to it. The construction of the concrete walls, which were difficult to access at a depth of up to 10.7 metres from the road, was particularly challenging.

The works included the reconstruction of the road and waterworks, the construction of a temporary bypass and the installation of a new culvert and spillway. Restoration of the damaged road structure was also part of the project.

The restoration works officially started on 4 November 2024, and the project was commissioned by the Municipality of Pásztó City from the Hungarian State vis major budget. The progress of the works was largely dependent on the weather.

The first step was the construction of the temporary bypass, followed by the pouring of the concrete manholes. The project is key to the safety of the area, as the restoration of the damaged road and reservoir flood control facility is essential for the safe operation of transport and water treatment infrastructure
